Organisers of the Bath Half Marathon are urging runners to get their entry in as soon as possible as general public entries for the 2012 race are now almost full.

The race, which takes place on 11 March next year, never fails to sell out and attracts runners from all over the UK and abroad, as well as a significant local contingent.

Only a few hundred of the general public entries now remain, and they are selling fast.  Entries are ahead of where they were this time last year and further forward again than in 2010, leaving organisers to predict that general public entries will be sold out in the next week.

Race Director, Andrew Taylor, from Running High Events commented: “We are delighted with the quick take up on entries for 2012. The race has sold out every year since 2000.  The Bath Half continues to show an encouraging firming of support, bucking the trend of other larger UK races, some of which are struggling to fill in the current climate”.

The Bath Half Marathon is one of the largest charity fundraisers in the South West region, raising a record sum of £1.5million pounds in 2011 for over 50 different local and national charities. The Lead Charity for the 2012 event is Guide Dogs for the Blind.  RUH Forever Friends Appeal are the Featured Race Appeal; Quartet Community Foundation, serving an area including Bath and North East Somerset is the race’s Local Charity of the year; and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has been confirmed as the charity for the 2012 Fun Run.

Running High’s Charity Director, Mel Taylor added: “We are very thankful to the local community in Bath for their continued support of the event.  From past experience once the general public entries are sold interest will turn to the reserved places held by our official race charities.  Details are available on our website www.bathhalf.co.uk”.

Entries are also still open for the Family Fun Run and the Corporate Challenge for business teams. Entry to the race is through the race website at www.bathhalf.co.uk  where details for the race charities can also be found, or call 01225 422 255.
