March 2008 Perfect Motion is proud to announce David Lloyd Nottingham as an event partner for the upcoming Maid Marian Mile Relay. Returning for its third successive year, the 4x1 mile relay event will be taking place on Thursday 22nd May 2008, at the Forest recreation ground. Teams of four runners (or walkers) must each complete a one-mile circuit before handing over the baton. David Lloyd Nottingham will be encouraging its members to take part, and staff at the Aspley Lane venue will also be urged to grace the field, with competition encouraged between the numerous different departments at the health and fitness club. Nick Read, sales manager at the club, said: “The Maid Marian Relay is a fantastic opportunity that we as a health and fitness facility just cannot afford to ignore. “It has the potential to benefit the club enormously because the participants exactly fit our target market and it is also taking place right on our doorstep at the Forest recreation ground.” Anyone can enter the event, so whether you’re a group of friends, a team representing a local business, members of a sports group, or just looking to get fit, it really doesn’t matter – the Maid Marian Mile Team Relay is a great event to be part of. 27th March 2008 The Nationwide Bath Half Marathon took centre stage last weekend with Kenya’s Raymond Tonui winning the men’s race in a time of 65 minutes and 25 seconds. Ayile Mergessa of Ethiopia was runner up and Britiain’s Kevin Skinner came in third. The women’s event saw Ethiopia’s Roman Gebresse take the title with a time of 73:09 leading home Britain’s Wendy Nicholls and Amy Sales-Clark. However, the event was about much more than the elite athletes with more than 10,000 runners braving the blustery conditions to complete the 13.1 mile course. Race director, Andrew Taylor said: "The 27th Bath Half Marathon was a fantastic spectacle, with people lining the entire route and supporting the record numbers taking part. Runners are expected to raise well over £1 million for charities and good causes.” One of the main beneficiaries of the race was the official race charity CLIC Sargent. Duncan Quigley, 20 from Bath, who ran for CLIC Sargent said: “It’s been a really good day. I have bad knees and was struggling at the end but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I decided to run for Clic Sargent because I think the work they do for children with cancer is incredible.” For a full breakdown of the results, please visit http://www.bathhalfmarathon.co.uk
