The historic competition returned to Nottingham for its 26th year on Sunday May 4th, the day before the Women's FA Cup final at the City Ground, as part of Nottingham's Festival of Women's Football. The tournament was held by Nottingham Forest Ladies FC in partnership with Nottingham City Council. The weather held out for most of the day for the 120 teams that came from all corners of the country to play for theVictoria Trophy. There was entertainment from football freestylers and a special appearance from Casey Stoney and Siobhan Chamberlain of the Women’s England Football team, who came down to show their support for Women's Football. The results of the games are as follows: Under 10s Cambridge B 2 Cambridge A 0 Under 12s Celstia 3 Sharley Park 1 Under 14s Arnold Town 2 Sharley Park 0 Under 16s Derby County B 1 Ilkeston 0 All games were played on grass in the fantastic setting of the Victoria Embankment and helped welcome the FA Cup final to Nottingham. There are high hopes Nottingham will be the host of the games next year, with even more players anticipated. |
