| Brief: To create and manage a database of sporting advocates to promote the East Midlands as a successful sporting region and help maximise the impact of the 2012 Olympic Games. Activity: Development of a group of 40 of high profile sporting men and women to act as sporting advocates including Ross Davenport, Campbell Walsh, Jayant Mistry, Lisa Dobriskey and Donna Kellogg. Emda, Emra, Department of Health, Sport England East Midlands and County Sports Partnerships within the region can access these athletes to appear at events or support campaigns Each athlete is briefed prior to the appearance to contribute to debate on sport performance, general participation, sports development and health.
Outcomes: Promotes sport in general and the role it plays in society Adds value and interest to campaigns and events Attracts heightened media interest Provides a positive message to others when athletes travel for training and competition Attracts interest from existing and potential investors
