Sporting Advocates

Brief:
To create and manage a database of sporting advocates to promote the East Midlands as a successful sporting region and help maximise the impact of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Activity:
  • Development of a group of 40 of high profile sporting men and women to act as sporting advocates including Ross Davenport, Campbell Walsh, Jayant Mistry, Lisa Dobriskey and Donna Kellogg.
  • Emda, Emra, Department of Health, Sport England East Midlands and County Sports Partnerships within the region can access these athletes to appear at events or support campaigns
  • Each athlete is briefed prior to the appearance to contribute to debate on sport performance, general participation, sports development and health.
Outcomes:
  • Promotes sport in general and the role it plays in society
  • Adds value and interest to campaigns and events
  • Attracts heightened media interest
  • Provides a positive message to others when athletes travel for training and competition
  • Attracts interest from existing and potential investors

Client comment:

"Ross was a great help at the event.  He stayed around for most of the day, was always happy to speak to kids, VIPs and the media. His presence was a real bonus to the event. Thank you for arranging it."
